Fridge Removals Brisbane | Household Fridges & Freezers

Need one household fridge or freezer moved in Brisbane? Our two-person team moves household fridges and freezers upright, on a trolley or dolly, protected with blankets in a 5-ton tailgate truck.

The fridge has to fit through every door, hallway and stair turn on the route with its doors on, and onto the tailgate lifter. Send its height, width and depth with your access details before booking.

Household Fridges and Freezers

Fridge and Freezer Types We Move

We move standard household fridges and freezers between homes, units, garages, offices and self-storage units. That includes:

  • Bar fridges
  • Top-mount and bottom-mount fridges
  • Side-by-side fridges
  • French-door fridges
  • Upright freezers and chest freezers

A French-door fridge is one of the single items we are booked for most often. Whatever the type, the deciding question is the same: can it travel the whole route safely with its doors on? A fridge that is moving together with other furniture is usually better booked as a few item removal.

On Moving Day

How Our Brisbane Fridge Removals Work

1. Ready Before We Arrive

Before collection, empty the fridge, remove food and follow your model’s manual for switching off, defrosting and drying it. Arrange any water-line or plumbing disconnection in advance. For general preparation advice, see CHOICE’s fridge and freezer moving guide; your appliance manual takes priority for model-specific instructions.

2. Trolley or Dolly

Two removalists move the fridge on a trolley or dolly through the cleared route, following the measurements you sent.

3. Tailgate Lifter

The fridge is raised into the truck on the tailgate lifter. If it will not fit on the tailgate, we cannot take it.

4. Upright in the Truck

Fridges always travel upright. They are protected with moving blankets and secured with straps for the drive.

5. Placed Where Agreed

We carry the fridge into the agreed position at the delivery address, as long as that route has been measured too.

6. You Reconnect It

Reconnection, plumbing and electrical work are not part of the move. Check your manual for how long to wait before switching it on.

The Most Common Mistake

Measure the Whole Route Before You Book

The problem we see most often is a fridge that nobody measured against the doors and hallway at the new place, or one that gets stuck on a staircase because there isn’t enough room to turn it. We don’t remove fridge doors to make it fit, so the measurements need to work with the fridge as it is.

Before you request a quote, measure:

  • the fridge’s height, width and depth, including handles and hinges;
  • the clear width of each doorway on the route, at both properties;
  • hallway widths and any tight turns;
  • stair width, landings, ceiling height and the number of flights;
  • lift door and lift interior sizes, if a lift is involved; and
  • the final opening into the kitchen, laundry or garage.

Photos of tight spots help. Our single item removals page explains the full fit check for any bulky item.

Honest Limits

When a Fridge Move Isn’t Suitable

We may decline a fridge or freezer move when:

  • it will not pass through a door, hallway or stair turn on the route;
  • it will not fit on the truck’s tailgate lifter;
  • a very steep driveway or other access stops the truck being positioned safely; or
  • the job needs plumbing, electrical or installation work that is outside a removalist service.

If you tell us the measurements and access first, we can say so before you book rather than on moving day.

Fridge Moving Questions

Can you move just one fridge?

Yes. One fridge or freezer is a normal job for us. The standard setup is two removalists and a 5-ton tailgate truck, so you don’t need to supply anyone to help lift.

Do you keep fridges upright?

Yes. We always transport fridges and freezers upright and have not moved them any other way.

Will you take the fridge doors off to fit it through?

No. We don’t remove and refit fridge or appliance doors. The fridge needs to fit the route with its doors on.

Can you collect a fridge from a store or a private seller?

Yes, subject to the same fit check. Have the order or seller details ready, and see furniture pickup and delivery for how collections work.

Can you move a fridge into or out of a storage unit?

Yes. We move belongings into and out of self-storage units; we don’t provide the storage. A ground-level unit is usually quicker than one reached by a lift.

What about a washing machine or dryer as well?

We move washing machines, dryers, ovens and microwaves too. Preparation for those appliances is covered on our appliance and whitegoods page.
